Anointing & Viaticum for the Dying
Viaticum is the last sacrament of the Christian. When someone is at the point of death, in addition to the Anointing of the Sick, they receive the Eucharist as spiritual nourishment for their soul’s final journey into eternity. The Church calls this Viaticum, a Latin word meaning “a provision for a journey.”
If you or a member of the community are actively dying and wish to receive the Anointing of the Sick and Viaticum, please call the Parish Office at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kalida, OH, at 419-532-3474, ext. 7.
Shut-Ins and Hospitalizations
Please reach out to the Parish Office at stjohnscontinental@gmail.com to notify them of any members of the community who are homebound or hospitalized.
Visitation and Eucharist can be provided by an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.
If you or a member of the community are or will be hospitalized because of a surgery or an illness, please contact Fr. Joseph Varghese at jvarghese@toledodiocese.org to request the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
Mass Intentions
Mass intentions may be offered for a living or deceased person(s) by parishioner request and based on availability. Mass intentions can be requested one year in advance and the typical donation is $10.
